From breeding records to the arena: choices in Brazilian breeding

ABCCH’s 2025/26 list meets WBFSH points and offspring prize money on Hippomundo. Three perspectives on show jumping breeding.

Ermitage Kalone leads ABCCH’s 2025/26 breeding list with 243 records. Vigo Cécé follows with 190, ahead of Emerald with 164 and Cornet Obolensky with 130. What do these choices reveal alongside international sire rankings?

Positions use different criteria and periods. A WBFSH dash means outside the 2025 top 100. A Hippomundo dash means the position is not listed in this selection. Vigo Cécé and Vigo d’Arsouilles are different horses.

Five names connect the lists

Emerald, Cornet Obolensky, Comme il Faut, Diamant de Semilly and Chacco Blue are in the top ten of all three lists. Cornet leads both international references; Emerald is ninth in both. These five shared names do not establish a statistical correlation or explain breeders’ decisions on their own.

Today’s choices and the results of other generations

Ermitage Kalone’s lead in breeding records contrasts with his absence from the 2025 WBFSH top 100. Vigo Cécé, second in the Brazilian list, is 34th there. This difference cannot establish the merit of individual matings: sport rankings depend on offspring that have had time and opportunities to reach competition.

Total points and prize money also need to be read alongside the number of offspring competing. The comparison provides references; each mating still requires an assessment of the mare, her family and the breeding objective.
